Hello everyone! It’s spring! Are you excited?
Our new opening weekend is Friday, April 30th – Sunday, May 2nd from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Our exhibit this season is called ‘20 – ‘20 Visions: 100 Years of West Virginia Railroading, and it is an ambitious, insightful, and expansive comparison of West Virginia’s railroad industry in the 1920s, and now, in the 2020s. Our exhibit features the professional railroad photography of Dr. Frederick J. Ripley as he explores the features of the railroad in West Virginia and surrounding areas, and his colorful modern images contrast our historic images and artifacts.
We are located on the second floor of the Darden Mill in Elkins, West Virginia, on the corner of 1st and Railroad Avenue. Come and see how your life is connected to the railroad, and how different that relationship might be if you lived here 100 years ago.
We will continue to be open the month of May on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The Discovery Center, which is on the first floor of the Darden Mill, will be opening up that same weekend. If you come by to learn about West Virginia railroad history, you should go downstairs and learn about the area’s gorgeous national forests!
